The  Jack Norman photo page

Norman Nursery has been in Phoenix for over 100 years. Jack Norman's father started the nursery in the late 1800's on Central Ave. north of Van Buren Street. During the 1940's Jack took photos, as any photo buff would, but with the amazing exception that he used a 4X5 inch Speed Graphic instead of a box camera. The photos below are very rare and mostly one of a kind view. The color photos were taken with a 35mm Exa camera in the 1950's. There are photos of the famous ash trees on Central north of Bethany Home and the palm trees on Central north of McDowell, all planted by Jack's father, a real pioneer.
